Greetings! A good place to begin your research would be the Baltimore
site of The Political Graveyard. It is "a web site about U.S.
political history and cemeteries. It is the Internet's most
comprehensive source for American political biography, listing 107,137
politicians, living and dead."
I suggest this source as a way for you to acquire past politicians'
identities for further detailed study, should you need to be that
specific. The Baltimore public library also offers much online
regarding general and political history. Some of the subjects
available online there are:
Maryland and Regional History
Baltimore "America's City of Firsts"
Impressive list of "Firsts" in medicine, science & Technology, sports,
transportation, military, entertainment, monuments and much more.
Baltimore City Neighborhoods History
Unique history for many of the city's communities.

Office of Tourism Development
Maryland the Seventh State
The website provides basic historic information with some
illustrations about Maryland, it's symbols and founders. Also a book
by John T. Marck, Maryland The Seventh State can be found in BCPL
collections (Md (Ref) 975.2 M) and contains much more including
histories of each Maryland County.
You should be able to get quite a bit of info from the online library.
On the same search, there is a "kid's page" site that offers a
history of the Calvert family (the Barons Baltimore - the page offers
live links to more information on each name):
George Calvert , 1st Lord Baltimore
Cecilius Calvert, 2nd Lord Baltimore
(More about the 1st & 2nd Lords Baltimore)
Philip Calvert , brother of Cecilius
(also Project Lead Coffin )
Leonard Calvert , brother of Cecilius ( picture )
Charles Calvert , 3rd Lord Baltimore
Benedict Leonard Calvert , 4th Lord Baltimore
Charles Calvert , 5th Lord Baltimore
(More about the 3rd, 4th & 5th Lords Baltimore)
Frederick Calvert , 6th Lord Baltimore
(Baltimore was founded in 1729 and named for the barons Baltimore, the
British founders of the Maryland Colony. Prior to that, it was
inhabited by Native Americans of the Susquehannock tribe.)
I hope these links will aid in your research of the subject. Should
you need clarification, please ask.
