Hi artifactsguy,
Although this isn't an exact answer to your question, it might be
useful. foodservice.com's salary survey for Chicago states that
Managers in the area make $40,000 and Assistant Managers make $32,500.
http://www.foodservice.com/surveys/salary_survey_summary.cfm

Although I couldn't find exact salary information for Starbucks, web
searches turn up reports of Starbucks offering a starting wage of
$6-$9/hour.
salary.com states that a "combined food preparation and service
worker" in Chicago, IL makes between $15,300 and $21,500. salary.com
also reports that "room service managers" will make between $38.5K and
$45.5K.

I know that this is not the exact information you are looking for, but
these numbers may be useful if you are planning on applying for a job
in the food service industry. It's always good to know what to expect
before you interview! Also, did you know Starbucks was the first
company to give both its full-time and part-time workers stock
options?

Thanks for the helpful references, rajbot-ga! I was aware of the
partnership benefits of Starbucks. They are quite nice! I am
seriously considering a job switch to Starbucks and wanted as much
information as possible prior to making this serious.
