I found a few places where this is available on-line.
If you go to http://www.celebritystorm.com/celebs/pics/KatarinaWitt/filmography.html
you will see the option to buy the tape you are looking for when you
click it you will be transported to Amazon where Carmen on Ice is
available with Tango on Ice in a two part compilation for $14.98.
http://filmography11.hypermart.net/sports/ice_skating/ice_skating.htm
also takes you to amazon, to the same page in fact.
I think the reason you have had difficulty tracing it is that it seems
to only be available as part of this compilation rather than on its
own. i.e. Carmen on Ice brings no results whereas Carmen & Tango on
Ice does.
There is a swapshop guy available at.
http://home.earthlink.net/~louis17/tapes/shows.html
This guy only trades tapes for tape so it won't be of use unless you
have some shows to trade that he needs. Also he does say that the
quality of the video is only "fair"
Hope that this is helpful - you should get your copy before November. |

As the comment states, there were two versions of Carmen on Ice, one
of which stars Olga Pershankova and was released in 1992 by BBC. I
found that this version is readily available online and is NOT the
version I was looking for.
Amazon.com does not have the version produced by Stars on Ice starring
Brian Boitano, Brian Orser, and Katerina Witt, nor does the
starsonice.com website.
I therefore repeat, I am looking for the following movie:
Carmen on Ice (1989)
Starring Brian Boitano, Brian Orser, and Katerina Witt
I need this information in time to order and receive in Canada before
November 9 2002

Hello, please accept my apologies, because the link to amazon was
found through a search involving the perameters of "Carmen on Ice" and
"Witt" there was a description of the version that you want. When you
click to "BUY" that particular tape it puts you on the amazon page for
as you say a completely different version.
I have searched extensively through and also made some calls to second
hand tapes shops and HMV, Our Price, Virgin, etc.
The only place i have found it available is on Tape Trading Sites such
as
http://www.angelfire.com/sk2/skating4
You may also wish to keep your eye on this site
http://www.instantserve.ltd.uk/findthatfilm/pages/browseCat2.php?artClass=MUSB&cat1=Music:%20Ballet
the title is currently out of stock, but if you click back on it every
now and again, it may become available.
I honestly think that the only way you are going to be able to get a
hold of this is to email the angelfire link and explain your need for
the tape and see whether there is anything he would be prepared to
accept in exchange for the tape.
I'm sorry i couldn't be of more help and will understand if you choose
to reject this answer.

I'm sorry, but all the links that you have mentionned, I had already
visited in my personnal search, and each yielded results only partly
satisfying. That is why I insisted in my question that I was looking
for an online store where I could buy it and receive it in Canada in
time for November 9 2002.
For the link
http://www.instantserve.ltd.uk/findthatfilm/pages/browseCat2.php?artClass=MUSB&cat1=Music:%20Ballet
On top of being out of stock, their video format is PAL, which is
incompatible with the North-American (Canadian) NTSC VHS standard.
The tape trading sites that I have seen involve exclusively _trading_
and not purchasing, and I do not have any tapes in that area of
interest since it's my girlfriend who's the figure-skating nut.

In that case, i think you should reject my answer and repost the
query. Hopefully, someone might stumble on to it by some chance,
although I have tried everything i can think of to try and locate the
tape for you but because of the age of the show as you have seen from
your own investigations it is nigh impossible to find.
I have emailled HBO to see whether they can do anything but as yet i
have not receivd a reply. If they still have it somewhere, i was
thinking perhaps they may let you ahve a copy at a small charge.
I know that the tape swapping sites say they will "Only trade", but
i'm sure if you email them privately and explain your need, they might
be able to come to some arrangement with them in view of how much you
want the tape.
