Need to identify the number and location of all HIV-AIDS treatment
centers that exist in the United States, as well as how many of these
centers are private entities (owned privately, by physicians, etc) and
how many are public facilities (operated by universities,
government-run. etc).

Hi there,
would you be willing to accept a certain cut-off with respect to size?
This would not only make this question manageable, but also make sense
qualitywise: you're obviously not looking for the General Practicioner
prescribing something, but for specialized institutions.

Thanks,
searchbot

Hello,

Are you looking for a contact information list, or a table with the
quantity of facilities per state and categories private / public -as
for statistics purposes? Thanks for your help.

First and foremost, I would like a quantifiable listing of the number
of HIV-AIDS treatment facilities, per state, categorized as either
public and private (if public, please specify if possibe if it is a
government, university or non-profit facility). Ideally I would VERY
MUCH want an actual list of these facilities (with any location or
contact information that can be provided).

Furthermore, while it is most important to find the actual facilities
that specialize in HIV-AIDS treatment, I would GREATLY appreciate any
additional information, such as doctors who may be General
Practicioners, who treated patients with HIV-AIDS.

Thank you.

Hello, omniscientbeing-ga. I've checked the link you provided and was
only able to find (on some of the state web sites) patient statistics.
I did not see any listings of HIV-AIDS clinics or even, lists of
practicing physicians in each state. If you are able to find this
information via this site, then yes, it would be very helpful.
Otherwise, this source will not provide the information we are
seeking. Thanks for your help.

Hello lfk-ga

when you say HIV-AIDS treatment facilities do you mean centers that
exclusively treat AIDS patients or hospitals that also have a special
unit or team designated and equipped for diagnosis, treatment,
continuing care etc for HIV-AIDS patients ?
Furthermore do the center need a special unit or do you want also
hospitals that do inpatient diagnosis and treatment for HIV/AIDS but
don't have a dedicated unit ?

Thank you

Hello

I looked for a long time trying to find an answer for you.
I tried different searches like

AIDS treatment facilities
AIDS|HIV hospital|clinic list
AIDS foundation

While there is a lot of information out there about AIDS I couldn't
find
anything close to the answer to your question.

In the end I tried

Aids treatment facility locator

and I found the CDC National Prevention Information Network web site

http://www.cdcnpin.org/npin/InternetSearch/IntermediateSearch/IntOrgSearch.cfm
They have a facility locator that you can use by entering a set of
criteria.
I entered the following criteria that I think provide you with the
answer to your query.
If you find that the criteria are not complete you can either enter
the
new query yourself or I will be happy to help you.

Here is the query that I repeated for each state

All Text = ("AIDS treatment") and
State = ( "Alabama") and
Target Audience = ( "Adolescents with HIV/AIDS" or "Adults with
HIV/AIDS" or "Children with HIV/AIDS" or "HIV Positive Persons" or
"Infants with HIV/AIDS" or "Mothers with HIV/AIDS" or "Older Adults
with HIV/AIDS" or "Persons with HIV/AIDS" or "Pregnant Women with
HIV/AIDS" or "Women with HIV/AIDS") and
Prime Org.Type = ( "AIDS Service Organization" or "Clinic" or
"Extended Care Facility" or "Hospital" or "Religious Organization" or
"Social Service Organization")

Here are the numbers of HIV/AIDS treatment facilities by state

   Alabama 9
   Alaska 10
   Arizona 18
   Arkansas 5
   California 147
   Colorado 12
   Connecticut 20
   Delaware 3
   District of Columbia 19
   Florida 54
   Georgia 13
   Hawaii 4
   Idaho 4
   Illinois 41
   Indiana 20
   Iowa 8
   Kansas 7
   Kentucky 7
   Louisiana 20
   Maine 11
   Maryland 16
   Massachusetts 44
   Michigan 26
   Minnesota 17
   Mississippi 8
   Missouri 14
   Montana 4
   Nebraska 3
   Nevada 4
   New Hampshire 14
   New Jersey 31
   New Mexico 11
   New York 130
   North Carolina 22
   North Dakota 2
   Ohio 22
   Oklahoma 19
   Oregon 4
   Pennsylvania 48
   Rhode Island 4
   South Carolina 7
   South Dakota 6
   Tennessee 10
   Texas 51
   Utah 9
   Vermont 5
   Virginia 25
   Washington 21
   West Virginia 8
   Wisconsin 7
   Wyoming 4

If you click on the facility name on the result page you can access
all the
detailed information about the facility including the contact
information.

Unfortunately the query doesn't let you categorize the facility as
public or private (and then government, university or non-profit
facility)
but that distinction is present in the detailed information for each
facility
under the label "Legal Status".

I hope this answer your question, I will be happy to help you further
if needed
