Can you tell me the operating system you are using (NT? XP? Win2000?
Win98?) It sounds like it's not so much an Autodesk problem as a
Windows problem.

Dear Char57 -

I know the frustration you are feeling at trying to load software
unsuccessfully. The error you are getting is a windows system error.
It is directing you to download a service pack from microsoft.
Depending on which of the Microsoft windows products you are using
will determine how many updates there are. A service pack is just
that an update to a bug or error in your operating system. It is
best to keep up to date with the latest and greatest updates. It
might provent you from this type of error.

The follow error code is taken directly from Microsoft (
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/debug/base/system_error_codes.asp
)

" 1613 This installation package cannot be installed by the Windows
Installer service. You must install a Windows service pack that
contains a newer version of the Windows Installer service.
ERROR_INSTALL_PACKAGE_VERSION "

additional resources:

MSDN library

I hope this helps you get back on track and installing immediately.
