Question ID: 700120
What is the bearing of the Gödel number with respect to Automata
Theory on the Turing problem? I suppose the question would be very
complicated to answer but a simplified explanation will do. By the
way, is John Conway still able to do creative work? I remember reading
somewhere that he had a stroke. I am not doing much better myself
since I suffer from a seizure disorder which has degenerated into
generalised locomotor ataxia and has all but brought me to a
standstill but I will try to follow whatever answer you provide.

Well, I guess I'll leave well wnough alone there. I suppose that kind
of information does not constitute a "certain inalienable right" of
mine.

Ok, how about this one...What were the events behind the change of
designation of the Principle of Indeterminacy to the Uncertainty
Principle?

And it's NOT idle zeal for terminology, because to my mind this been
the point of origin for a senseless and detrimental "psychologizing"
of emotionally neutral scientifc terms since the late 70's or so.

Isn't there anyone here who has a whiff of a viewpoint on these matters?

I haven't heard anything about Conway having a stroke. I took a look
online, and haven't seen anything to that effect as well (although
occurrences in math are often not widely reported). He is one of my
favorite mathematical authors...I hope you're wrong.

As for the problem, it's nothing I could answer, but I'm interested in
the answer as well.
