Hi,
There was a lovely piece of music that Russia's Yelena Sokolova skated
to tonight(2/23) in the woman's free skate final and I would like to
know if anyone knows what it was :)
Thanks! |

Since I didn't watch the finals, I'm not certain this is the music you
are referring to:
"Sokolova's short program music for the 2005-06 season is Puccini's
"Turandot." Her free program is set to the music for the French stage
version of "Romeo and Juliet," written by Gerard Presgurvic. "When I
skated to 'Notre Dame' [her former free skate], I feel myself like
Esmeralda. Now I?m Juliet, like Juliet in our times. I really
understand she?s fighting, fighting for her love. I?m fighting for my
love -- my love for figure skating," says Sokolova. Sasha Cohen and
the Russian pairs team of Tatyana Totmiyanina and Maxim Marinin also
have "Romeo and Juliet" for their free skate, but Cohen's and
Totmiyanina/Marinin's versions are from Nino Rota's soundtrack for the
1968 film version."

Please let me know if that answers your question.

Hi,
Thanks for trying, unfortunately that isn't the piece of music,
(though lovely) that I was looking for. Probably will never know :(
I really wish NBColympics posted such things on their site because the
commentators don't always give us the name of the tune! Drive's me
bonkers :(
The piece of music was somewhat upbeat, fast specially towards the
end. No other way to describe it. Wish I could find the video of the
skate somewhere to listen to it more closely :(
Thanks again,
Joy
