Is there a website avilable that allows you do fill in a map of the
world by color? An example would be a map where you input the
countries "Mexico, Columbia, China" and have them colored blue on a
global map.

The purpose of the map is for a research project and not to educate
children. An example would be the electoral college maps that you see
during Presidental elections (in the United States). When California
votes for a democrat, the state is filled in blue.

I want to do this by country for the entire world. Thus, I want to be
able to input into a program "Japan" "Blue" and have Japan be colored
blue.

Thanks for the previous comment. unfortunatley it wasn't quite what I
was looking for.

Well, define making a map of the world? If you or are trying to help I
child learn about the countries or continents then I know more then a
few nice sites.

http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/World_Continents.htm
If you click on this link it takes you to the "continents" page. If
you scroll down you can even chose what level of difficulty the game
is. If you are in need of contries I will list a game site for each
and every one.
North America
http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/globeweb/snapshot/Snapshot-globe-6.htm
To get to the "games" area simply click the link for the area your looking for.
South America

Africa

Asia

Austrailia
http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/globeweb/snapshot/Snapshot-globe-4.htm
Europe
http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/globeweb/snapshot/Snapshot-globe-5.htm

There you go! If its a little hard to get around the site I
understand. But it should have ANYTHING you could possibly want about
the globe even a blank map of the world!

So good luck! And happy hunting!

Perhaps something like an online coloring book or software would be useful:
http://www.programurl.com/online-magic-colouring.htm
http://www.isoverse.com/colorbook/globe.html
http://www.coloring.com/

Coloring.com is the simplest site. There is a contact address if you
click on "privacy policy" at the bottom left of the page.

Obviously these sites aren't aimed at your age group, but they seem to
do most of what you want. Instead of clicking on Japan Blue, one
clicks on a color and then on the picture. Of course, you would need
to have a map drawn by the software, which shouldn't be a problem for
the different sites.

Well, perhaps it could be a start.

What color would they use if Massachusetts voted for a Republican?
