how in the name of all can i get the f-secure(apex) virus scan off of my
dell 4600  desktop?
It was a trial program, have deleted most of the dll files, ect, but
that old faithful splash screen keeps coming up to greet me everytime
i log in....It then causes an ie error....thanks

I had a similar problem in 2003-OCT while trying to Uninstall their AV product.

I used a registry utility (be very, very careful).
Look for a folder named "data fellows" or similarly named entity.
F-Secure corp was once known as data fellows...
Delete the data-fellows folder and look for other folders that are
*obviously and definitely* related--like with same create date/time.
