I have developed a new type of advertising vehicle that can be used by advertisers to reach consumers. This new vehicle can only display static advertisements, unlike the Internet where advertisements can be interactive. An example of such an advertising vehicle may be a newspaper, which is used by advertisers to reach consumers. This new vehicle I developed does not exist today. I want to work with an advertising agency that can help me sell this advertising space to advertisers. Before such an agency can sell this advertising space, I need to understand how an advertisement placed on such a space can provide value to an advertiser. Therefore, I need to work with a consulting firm that can help me develop a sales package that contains (a) the impact of an advertisement placed on this new vehicle on the various metrics advertisers use to measure the effectiveness of their advertisements, which will help advertisers understand how much to pay for advertising on this new vehicle (b) a rate card that I can use to sell advertisements I want you to find me one or more consulting firms that can help me develop this package. Ideally, such firms should be in Boston, but I am open to firms located elsewhere. |

Your idea sounds intriguing. I would however err on the side of caution before punting out a statement that something is 'new' - and this is not meant to knock you down or off. It is simply that almost everything you can think of has been done before in one or another way. Another thing to consider is that once your idea hits the market, it is almost impossible to protect it. Let's continue this chat. |

Thank you for your comment. The concept is new to me and to the people I discussed the concept with so far. I do understand that importance of protecting the concept from imitation. There are 2 ways to go about doing this: (a) get patent protection on an important piece of the concept, if at all possible (b) develop the business model in such a way that my chances of success are maximized. I am following both these approaches and have to see where I end up. If you have specific ideas on how else one can protect a new advertising vehicle, please do let me know. |
