What is a finnish equivalent of "Bravo" ? I want to congratulate a performer on an excellent performance in finnish and would like to use an appropriate phrase. A literal translation of "congratulations" or "well done" isn't quite good enough (and something I could easily look those up) - I would prefer the culturally equivalent phrase. An example of what I'm looking for: instead of saying "Cheers", I'd say "Skool". |

Strongly under the influence of the Winter Olympics in Turin, you could probably praise the person with a hearty "Bravo!", or "Brava!" if the person is female. |

Look at this site: http://www.tranexp.com:2000/InterTran?url=http%3A%2F%2F&type=text&text=bravo&from=eng&to=fin It is an english-to-finnish translator with the word Bravo translated. Apparently, it could be hyvä, hyvä-huuto or palkattu murhaaja, but you'd better ask a finnish person just in case they're not as good as we think :) |

It is said hyvä which can be pronounced "hoover". That is how most finnish people say it. Hope this helped |
