I am looking for the title** of an animated film or feature that I
remember watching about 10-15 years ago as a child.

In the feature, some details I recall include:
(from most to least helpful)
*I remember an evil owl playing the pipe organ and he may have worn a purple cape
*I seem to remember that early in the feature, in some magical place,
some purple matter escaped from some kind of vault and it spread evil
across the land
*The film may not have started out animated and then at some point cut to animation
*The story was an epic battle between good and evil
*There *may* have been some kind of magic carpet, or other means of
the main character flying
*I don't remember if the hero was human or animal
*The feature was most likely produced in the 1980s
*I remember watching the feature on the Sony Beta player, so it was
probably either a copied title or appeared on television--it probably
was not ever released in theatres


**I need the title of the feature and would appreciate pictures so as
to make certain that it is the right movie.

The first thing that comes to mind is "Rock-A-Doodle," a 1991 film
that features an evil purple owl called the Grand Duke (voiced by
Christopher Plummer) who wears a cape and plays Bach on the pipe
organ. The film is mostly animated, with some live action at the
beginning and ending. As I recall, the Grand Duke casts a spell that
causes darkness and torrential rains. The aim is to drive away all the
other animals, and the owls will rule the land in darkness. Bwahahaha.

I read the provided synopsis and really all I recall was what I
already remembered about the owl and the partial live action.  Nothing
else came back to me as something I had seen years ago.  And though
the photos look like they may have struck a memory, it was a fuzzy one
at that.

I just did some more research on Rock*A*Doodle and I am certain I
don't remember the rooster Chanticleer being part of the story.  If
there was a "flood" it had to have resulted from some unscrupulous
person or being opening some vault or something that stored this evil
purple stuff that "flooded" the world.
