I received a painting as part of an inheritance. Unfortunately, I
cannot determine the artist, therefore I cannot determine the value.
Where can I find someone who can determine the artist and possibly
give an appraisal of its worth? This a large painting - so a Denver
area business would be great, but I can also work with someone if they
can work off digital pictures of the painting.

Is this the sort of professional you're looking for:

If so, there is one other similar listing in the immediate Denver
area, and several others in other parts of Colorado.

Let me know if that's what you're after.

This link might be helpful. Is the person in question available for
unsolicited appraisal? Does the appraisers service include hard to
identify paintings?

In my experience, art appraisers are generally available for
unsolicited appraisals (for a fee, of course), and they all work
hard-to-identify paintings. Bear in mind, though, that there are
limits to what even the best appraiser can do, if there's simply no
reliable history on a painting, and no documentation of the artist.

Why not give Ms. O'Brien a call to start the ball rolling?

Let me know what she has to say.

This is just a free comment.

You could start by contacting the Art Museum in Denver. The people
there could probably also suggest an appraiser.
