A coffee-trading friend in Central America asked me recently to assist
him with this question.
The two leading coffee exchanges are in
(1) New York, www.nybot.com (arabica coffee), and
(2) London , www.liffe.com , owned by www.euronext.com (robusta coffee).
Both quote coffee prices, but they are not realtime. They are with a
delay of 15 or 30 minutes so users cannot trade on the prices (which
may have changed in the meantime).
I am told that there are websites (maybe media or commodity brokers ?)
which offer realtime/direct price quotes - some of them also free of
charge.
Could you trace one or preferably a couple of such FREE-OF-CHARGE websites ?
It is primarily the quote for arabica coffee, i.e. the New York coffee
price, that is of interest. It is sometimes called "C" or "C Contract"
and is in USD/lb. Currently around USD 1.10 per lb/pound.
The International Coffee Organization, www.ico.org also has some
prices but they are an index of several coffees and they are quoted
only once a day or so - so not relevant here. |
