1) Provide a good or service that people want or need.

2) Invest your money so that others may use it to provide a good or
service that people want or need.

If you choose option 2, I recommend putting your money into an IRA or
ROTH IRA where you receive large benefits when it comes to paying
taxes.  If you're young, use an aggressive mutual fund where you will
earn close to 12% over the long run... here is what that looks like:
Age 19   $2,000  turns into
Age 67 $512,000
At 12% interest with no further investments besides the origional
$2,000... and all of that $512,000 is tax free if it was in a ROTH
