I love the lifestyle of Southern California, and would love to
emmigrate from the UK to the US (specifically LA or San Diego.)

I don't have any particular skills - I am a travel agent by trade, and
do not have a degree. I have friends there, but do not wish to fake a
mariage! or overstay illegaly.
I do not qualify for the diversity lottery as I am British by birth.

Your answer should ideally have a novel loop whole of how i can move
and live legally in the US, or a company who is interested and able to
employ a bright nut not that well qualified person.

thanks

I have poor finances and no history of setting up my own business.

Although lacking in formal qualifications, I am bright, have a high IQ
and a very savvy, with lots of street smarts. (trying to be modest
here...)

As you have disclosed lack of skills or education but not lack of
finances, have you considered the option of investor visa,

May be you can set up a Travel Agency.

Another way is to get a Canadian citizenship and live and work in US.

Here is a consultant site from your neck of the woods (I have no
affiliation and purely chanced upon it),

Check out dating sites, talk in-depth with many people, and begin a
relationship with a woman/man who lives in SoCal that you could fall
in love with. Then move to SoCal and marry them. It wouldn't be a fake
marriage then, and you could always get divorced if it doesn't work
out.

From one travel agent to another. I work for a large travel agency,
we might actually work for the same company. The most common solution
for this situation is to get a work visa. You can apply for one after
recieving an offer letter. A friend here in can get you a job and
tell the employeer that you an offer letter to get over here. At
first it probably wont be the best situation (like a waiter/wiatress).
But it will get you in. I had a freind that did this in Las Vegas.
Its not SOCAL, but it is close enough for you to look for other jobs
there when you get your foot in the door. Or you could live the
American dream by applying for a student visa from applying to a
community college here. Some schools here relaxed admissions to get
'out of state' tuition. You'll be in debt tho that way.
