I need the name (and URL link to) a serviceable, simple program that
will allow me to edit quicktime movies: trimming their beginnings and
endings, seamlessly chaining them together, dropping the audio and
laying music over, adding subtitles . . . relatively simple stuff.
Preferably this program should be downloadable from the internet,
although it doesn't have to be free.
I'm not sure if Apple's Quicktime Pro is what I need. It seems to
have more capabilities, but for example can it add subtitles?
The editing I need to do is rather simple in nature, so the program
doesn't have to be Byzantine . . . And I don't have a lot of time, so
it should be user-friendly. |

Hi gnossie,
You *can* add subtitles to the movies with QuickTime Pro:
Working With Text Tracks
"You can add text to a QuickTime movie to create titles, credits, and
subtitles. With QuickTime Pro, text tracks are searchable, so you can
use keywords to find precise frames in the movie. The following topics
provide details about adding text tracks.
(...)
Overlaying a Movie With Text
With QuickTime Pro, you can use QuickTime Player to overlay
(superimpose) text on a specific part of an existing movie."
You can also add and remove audio tracks:
"Adding an Audio Track to a QuickTime Movie
You can easily add audio and other tracks to a QuickTime movie."
Check out the user manual here (which appears to be very user friendly):

Does the above information suffice as an answer to your question?
Best regards,
Rainbow
