I recently attended a function where the following poem was recited as
author unknown. Several of us feel as though we've heard it (or parts
of it) before.
A million times, I'll miss you,
a million times I've cried.
If love alone could have saved you,
you never would have died.
In life, I loved you dearly,
in death, I love you still,
and in my heart you hold a place,
no one can ever fill.
Honey, it broke my heart to lose you,
but you didn't go alone,
a big part of me went with you,
the day God called you home.
Now you're home with the loved ones,
who have gone on before,
but someday I'll come and join you.
I'll meet you at heaven's door.
Maybe for me it's not time yet,
there's so much work left to do.
The loved ones you left behind
right now they need me too.
So you have a good time with the others
until I see your smiling face.
For now I have to lean on God's mercy
and his tuly amazing Grace. |
