Can you tell me about the make-up of the adult, for-profit language education market in the UK and US? I am trying to determine if there are a small number of language schools with a large % of the market share or a large quantity of small schools. I would like this data for English as a second language specifically as well as generic language schools. Another way to phrase the question is what are the largest ESL and Foreign language schools in the US and UK and what % of the market do they each command? |

I know a little about TEFL in the UK, as I know people who work in it and have worked in it - to the level of training the teachers. My impression is that most operations are run on a shoestring, are not particularly well organized and pay poorly. I'm not entirely certain, but there also appears to be an element of 'VISA convenience' involved - for the 'students' of course. |
