Mind you, Botham wasn't much better in this test match:

Good one, Myo, thanks.

But I am very surprised that you came up with the goods.

I imagined that you would have thought cricket to be an insect.

Now, please write a very nice letter to Mr Blackwell requesting him to
feign a fairly serious injury that will require his immediate return
to the UK.

Many thanks!

Bryan

Touché, AF, but Botham did take a couple of catches.

I missed those, unlike him. In that case, forget my comment. I must go
and clean this computer screen.

What am I thinking?

Myo said 'England won'!

Well, they didn't it was a draw.

Myo, any more mistakes like that and you will be unceremoniously
stripped of your 'WC' award.

This is a FINAL WARNING!

Bryan,
I was so pleased when I finally found a site with the statistics, that
I just scooted down and missed that the match was a draw, though I did
wonder that there were so few batters in the last half of the second
innings (should have wondered more). But England did score the most
runs ...

Who me? Over 30 years ago, I spent some time in Australia, saw a
state match in Melbourne. The Vic. captain was 53 years old, as I
remember. And then in Sydney I spent some pleasant days at the
cricket ground with an "eskie" of cold beer.

Maybe Ian David's teammates are trying to give him a good case of
Delhi Belly to keep him of the pitch ...

Have I redeemed myself? If not, should I slip up again, does the
stripping have to be unceremoniously? I'd rather have it formal, ala
"Danny Deever" - well, without the drums rolling.

Myo, your grovelling apology is graciously accepted.

I was only worried in case the Indian Cricket Board should claim a
victory and cite you as the authority.

Myo

After much heart searching, I have forgiven you and to show that
there's no ill feeling, I am going to invite you to post an answer.

How about that?

Go on ... surprise me!

Bryan,
Thank you for allowing me to answer your very challenging question.
If you knew how many websites claim that they have all test match
statistics since the first vistors sailed to or from the hollowed home
of county cricket - but did not have the latest India vs England
match - you would appreciate the effort involved in discovering that
Ian David Blackwell is the person you are seeking.

(Here should appear the link, but since you have confirmed the
correctness of the answer, I will omit it. Couldn't have found it
again, anyway.)

Apparently during the first test match in India, Blackwell was a very
"challenged" all-rounder (in the PC meaning of the word). I would
like to assume that his zero catches resulted from his captain's
placing him on the boundary to save him for bowling and batting, but
he disappointed his fans, teammates, selectors, and the reporters with
only four runs, and no wickets as a bowler.
What should he be called (your question)? CH had a good suggestion
for the next match. I like my expression "challenged", but no doubt
cricket fans have a few choice epithets that I don't know.

If you have any questions, please let me know. If you liked my
answer, buy Daisy a better brand of dog biscuits for a treat.

Cheers, Myo

Dear Bryan,

I have pondered this for quite a while, and I've decided that I would
call a cricket all-rounder "Jiminy."

Best wishes from

Hi Myo

Many thanks for a GREAT answer but ...

You've put it in the wrong place!

Hence I am unable to award you the FIVE twinklies AND the $100 tip
that you fully deserve.

What to do now?

Puzzled of Hove

Hi Miss Pink

Very many thanks for offering 'Jiminy' although, unlike Blackwell,
Jiminy was a great cricket.

Why, he could even speak, sing and dance.

On reflection, I think Blackwell is more like Pinocchio, he's a great
fibber who cannot really play cricket. (Well not so far.) I wonder if
he's also got a huge schnozzle?

Next time you are in the UK, please allow me to take you to a cricket match.

Well, I've been to Tulsa, so the least you can do is to come over.

All the Best

Bryan

Aha, no Mr Blackwell in the team for the 2nd Test.

I wonder why?

Bryan,
As an author, you may know of this already, but I first heard about it
today on Radio 4. Interesting idea.

Hi Answerfinder

There are LOTS of people now offering 'Self Publishing' services and
one of my friends has had a book published by Lulu.

Actually selling any is a different proposition!

In fact, I am also providing publishing services for other writers and
I have now got two under my belt. Happily both books ARE selling!
