I would like to know where a quote, paraphrased

No one who's making it in America wants to know what's really going on.

I think it's from Kurt Vonnegut, but I can't find it and searches thru
google have not brought results. I put in a price I'm willing to pay,
but can't figure out how much time it will take, so I'm willing to
negotiate.

Can you remember where you read this quote? Also, why do you believe
it is from Kurt Vonnegut? Any other details you can provide will help.
Thanks.

A few years ago I read the quote in a magazine ... it was attributed,
as I maybe imperfectly recall, to Vonnegut and the reference, I think,
was Breakfast of Champions.

I doubt it becuase I've read that book, but I could have missed it.

I have searched extensively for this quote and finally released the
lock in the hopes another researcher will be able to find it. I don't
know if anyone else has had any luck.
