Hi, I'm trying to find a place where I can download or buy a song
called Has Anyone Here Seen My Old Friend Martin? I love this song and
I'd like to put it on my ipod. I looked on limewire, itunes, and
several search engines including google but I could not find it.
Thanks,
Matthew

I am quite certain that the song you're looking for is "Abraham,
Martin and John." The song, which was written by Richard Holler
shortly after the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr, was a big
hit for a pop singer named Dion in 1968. The song is about Abraham
Lincoln, Martin Luther King, Jr and John F. Kennedy, all of whom
"freed a lot of people," but died young. Here is a portion of the
lyrics:

Anybody here seen my old friend Martin?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
He freed a lot of people,
But it seems the good they die young.
I just looked 'round and he's gone.

You'll find the full lyrics here:

Here you can listen to a .wav file of the song. It isn't very high
quality audio, but it should help you to verify that this is the song
you want:

Buy.com offers a download of Dion's original version of "Abraham,
Martin and John" for 99 cents:

BuyMusic

There are also several cover versions by other artists available for
download from Buy.com:

I checked iTunes, and both the Dion version and the cover versions are
available there, too.

I hope this is exactly the song you're looking for! If it is not, or
if a link doesn't work for you, please request clarification; I'll be
glad to offer further assistance before you rate my answer.

Best regards,

I should have added that, in addition to making references to Abraham
Lincoln, Martin Luther King, Jr and John F. Kennedy, the song also
mentions Bobby Kennedy, who, like the other men, was assassinated.
