I have bought iPod Nano for my daughter. We have IBM THINK PAD X40
running Windows XP. My daughter correctly down loaded iPOD Plus iTunes
software from accompanying CD. She has also successfully down loaded
another file sharing programme called Limewire. She wants to use
Limewire since its sort of free in basic mode.

The problem we are facing is we don't know how to export songs from
Limewire to iPod or from iTunes to iPod.

I will greatly appreciate, if someone tell me how to export songs to
iPOD and other relevant details in easy steps. I look forward to
hearing from someone very soon. please make sure that you yourself
know how to operate iPod nano and Limewire. Thank you.

Best, Saleem Akhtar

Just a comment:

Limewire is not a 'sort of free' version of iTunes. Limewire is a
peer to peer network for filesharing and currently is in use mainly
for the unlawful (in most jurisdictions) sharing of copy right
materials such as music, software, movies (including giving your
daughter access to pornography).

Be aware that MANY viruses are transmitted on the peer to peer
networks and take appropriate precautions if you wish to proceed with
that type of software.

If you look on the limewire site at :
http://www.limewire.com/english/content/ug49/ug_options.shtml
you will see that what you need to do is:

iTunes
Sharing, To make your audio files available in iTunes, check the Share
My Music option (default). When this is checked, your Shared Files
will go to iTunes with the name specified at Share Name.

AGAIN...I CAN'T STRESS ENOUGH TO YOU THE A: POSSIBLE ILLEGAL NATURE OF
USING LIMEWIRE FOR MUSIC DOWNLOADS B: THE INCREASED RISK TO YOUR
COMPUTER FOR INFECTION AND C: UNLESS YOU SET UP LIMEWIRE CORRECTLY AND
MONITOR YOUR DAUGHTERS USAGE...SHE WILL GET PORN.

Forgot to comment on iTunes syncing to your Nano...this will happen
automatically when you connect your Nano by the dock/USB...iTunes has
an Autosync feature that takes care of the rest.

Autosync is the default configuration for iTunes...more info here:

canadianhelper's concerns are VALID. Your daughter doesn't have to "go
looking" for porn, but it's very likely she will encounter it if you
allow her to use P2P (peer-to-peer) file sharing programs.

Also, you could get sued by the RIAA for copyright infringement violations.

There's a HUGE difference between LimeWire and iTunes. iTumes is a pay
service, you buy songs that are all downloaded from authorized
servers. They are virus, trojan, worm, spyware, malware FREE.

LimeWire files are just a bunch of peoples computers and everyone
"shares" their music (or other) files. The Recording Industry is suing
people for this activity. Some of these people think it's fun to
spread virus, trojan, worm, spyware, malware etc, and it's not only
"likely" your computer will become infected, it's just the WHEN that
you don't know.

I'd do a re-think...
