Hello. I have a serious concern. I would appreciate any advice I can
receive on this subject. Thank you in advance.
I have a website that has mysteriously disappeared offline just over
two weeks ago. I have been developing my company website for quite
sometime. The site has been done for sometime and it was getting very
light traffic at that time. The problem is with the hosting company. I
believe the hosting company took the website down. The hosting company
is The Vida. Their url is http://www.thevida.com However, this website
is no longer active. You can check the cache from a few months ago to
see what it looked like. I have tried to contact them for the longest.
Even prior to this happening I had e-mailed them for support and
never received a response. I was just in the process of moving my site
to another host when this suddenly happened. I don't know what to do.
Their site is no longer in use. I know the name of one of the people
that seemed to run it. I recently used a peoplefinders search but
their information results were of no use as I have not been able to locate this
person. I will not mention my website's name or company name at the
moment for privacy reasons. I don't suspect it was hacked or anything
of that nature. What I believe is that this server or host has acted
irresponsibly by taking down a website without the owner's permission.
I don't know if this action could be considered a crime. Can someone
please give me advice on what to do. What makes matters worse is that
we did not have a copy of the site saved. This makes this a difficult
situation to be in. In any event, I don't know if I should contact
local authorities like police or FBI. This is not a play house
website. It's a company website, a serious service that was about to
be re-launched.
Please give me any pertinent information you can possibly find about
The Vida, any owners name, contact info. though it may not be up to
date since the host appears to be out of business. Also please advice
me on how to approach authorities if need may be. I can provide name
of the person that may know where the website went. I'll provide it if
Google allows it as I am not sure if I can post it here. Please let me
know if I need to provide anything else for someone to help me. Thank
you. |

Update for pinkfreud:
I made contact with Paula Carrino. She said she won thevida.com as an
expired domain in a godaddy.com auction. I can't think of the exact
website. It's one where anyone can bid for an expired domain. Anyway,
here is the funny thing and odd thing which I need help in trying to
understand what could have happened. She won this domain in an
auction. She had to wait 14 days before she could officially become
the new registrant owner. If you read the information you gave me, it
clearly says that on February 11th there was new updated info. This
probably happened the day she officially became the new owner. What's
odd is that on this same day February 11th my website disappeared off
the internet. It happened the same day. My site was hosted by
thevida.com, though I must state that beginning sometime in late
January I noticed that thevida.com was just parked at godaddy.com and
it was no longer active online like before. I am confused as what
could have transformed on this day to cause my site to disappear. I
suspect that on this day, godaddy.com pointed this website
(thevida.com) to a new server without realizing that this domain
hosted my website, and in turn causing my website to disappear. Or
could the new owner have done something herself causing that to
happen? I have contacted godaddy.com and they do not want to be held
liable for the disappearance of my site. I don't know if it may be
their fault or not. They claim that the previous owner might have
taken it down. But if 14 days went by and the previous owner did not
re-register thevida.com then it was godaddy.com that might have done
something causing my site to go offline. Please let me know your take
on this and what else do you suggest. If you look up for me any
information of the previous owner of thevida.com I don't know if
that's possible though I know who it may have been. Worst come to
worst please find me any contact information you can of this person:
Clifton J. Eselman
Evans City, PA
This person is another lead that may have an answer but I have not
been able to contact as he has changed his phone number. Thank you.
I'll appreciate any help I can receive from you. You'll be tipped
immensely if you lead me to getting my files back and my site up.
Thanks again.

Sorry to learn that the contact info for Paula Carrino wasn't helpful.
I was not able to find anything on Eselman, and I'm afraid I don't
have any additional suggestions for you. Your question is fully open
to all Researchers; I hope someone will be able to help.

Thank you for trying to assist me. But no one here at Google Answers
was able to help me. I have found answers already on my own. Thank you
anyway.
