750,000 new cases of osteoarthritis are diagnosed each year in the US.

?In the US, an estimated 6% of adults over 30 have osteoarthritis of
the knee and about 3% have arthritis in the hip. Past age 65, 85% show
some evidence of osteoarthritis on x-ray, and about half experience
symptoms. And as the population ages the prevalence of arthritic
conditions is increasing. Approximately 750,000 new cases of
osteoarthritis and other arthritic conditions have been diagnosed each
year in the US since 1990, and an estimated 60 million Americans will
be affected by the year 2020, up from about 46 million today.?
