I need to identify the best available luxury beach homes in Maui or
Kauai for a week in August of 2006. House must have a pool and central
air conditioning.  Prefer to deal with a principal, but will deal with
an agent, if required.  I need a house that comes with cooking and
cleaning staff, as well as access to a mother's helper.  I wish to
locate an individual who has extensive information concerning
transportation to and from the house, as well as day trip planning.

The right answer from an owner would be information on his luxury
house that met the above requirements and evidence of weekly rental
price paid by others in the past.  The right answer
from an agent would be a comrehensive list of what is available, with
the price per week, amenities and access to property pictures.  The
right person knows the inventory of available houses (or maybe even
houses associated with luxury Destination Clubs), and an idea of the
property owner's reliabilty.

This is a free comment, not an "answer" to your question.
You have asked for "the best ... house available ..."  That cannot be
answered satisfactorily, even for $50.  As Researchers frequently
point out, the "best", "all" or "every" of something is always open to
challenge.
Could you consider restating your question to ask for a selection (5
?) of top market homes?  If price is really no obstacle, perhaps that
should be mentioned.
