Question ID: 704304
Using Mac OSX; When I send email and have text such as [I've] the
apostrophe, when received by the receiver sees [I?ve]. I'm assuming
that the mac character does not equal that of the PC character. How
can I stop my message from placing the question mark in place of the
apostrophe?

"To avoid this problem, you can send email as plain text instead of
rich text.  Alternatively, you can set Mail's default encoding to
UTF-8.  When running Mail, go to Message menu, select Text Encoding
and select Unicode (utf-8).  It is also a good idea to instruct Apple
Mail to send file attachments as "Windows Friendly Attachments".  When
running Mail, go to Edit menu, select Attachments, and select "always
send windows friendly attachments"

Does that work for you?

Is your email client set up to use ISO-8859-1 as its character set?

I will check that! But this occurs even if I cut and past into dotMac
web based email client, Mail client, Apple's Pages product and
Microsoft's Word product for Mac. As I have two new Mac's and have
basically left Preferences as defaults, I'm hoping their is a global
setting that I'm simply not aware of that could be changed. I would
only image that all Mac users have this problem but have never heard
of a way to resolve the issue. I simply contact people and say sorry
about all the question marks throughout the document/email, etc.
