I bought a new computer and moved my iTunes songs from the old hard drive to the new computer's iTunes folder. Now they are not recognized by the iTunes app on the new computer. I believe it's a DRM issue, with iTunes not recognizing that I paid for these songs. Hopefully I don't have to re-purchase all my music each time I get a new computer. The old computer is no longer being used. I only kept the hard drive. Both the new and old machine use Windows XP. Any help greatly appreciated. Patrice |

Not the only answer but here is one: First, you can't sync music from your iPod to the PC--it goes only in the other direction. However, you have a couple of options. You can burn the files to a CD or a DVD, then copy them to your new computer, or you can use your iPod as an external hard drive to copy and transfer all of the files. (Unless you changed the default location, you'll find them in My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music.) Once you've transferred them, you may also need to deauthorize the old PC and authorize the new one to play music purchased from the iTunes Music Store. Apple's support site has more details on all of this. |

To deauthorize a computer 1. Open iTunes. 2. From the Advanced menu, choose Deauthorize Computer. 3. Select "Deauthorize Computer for Apple Account" and enter your Apple ID and password. Make sure you deauthorize your computer before you upgrade your RAM, hard disk or other system components. If you do not deauthorize your computer before you upgrade these components, one computer may use multiple authorizations. If you find you have reached 5 authorizations due to system upgrades, you can reset your authorization count by clicking Deauthorize All in the Account Information screen. Note: You may only use this feature once per year. The Deauthorize All button will not appear if you have less than 5 authorized computers or if you have used this option within the last 12 months. To deauthorize all computers associated with your account: 1. Click Music Store in the Source list. 2. If you're not signed in to the store, click the Account button, then enter your account name and password. 3. Click the Account button again (your ID appears on the button), enter your password, and then click View Account. 4. In the Account Information window, click Deauthorize All. Now...since you don't have the 'old' computer to use anymore you can reauthorize on the new computer by doing the following: To authorize a computer to play songs purchased using your Apple Account 1. Select a song you've purchased (in your library or the Purchased Music playlist). 2. Click the Play button. If the computer has not yet been authorized, iTunes asks you to enter the Apple ID and password you used to purchase the song.
