symbiotic rather than mechanical. In the ideal post-modern
organization, the individual interacts with his or her environment,
learns from interactions, and shares knowledge with others through
networks. The organization facilitates this process. Will a
particular decision enhance the capacity of the individual to derive
knowledge from interactions? Will it enhance the network? These
questions are vital if knowledge is the primary resource of the
post-modern organization. A sustainable organization is one that
continuously rebuilds knowledge derived from a broad set of
interactions with its environment. These interactions create the
