We have an IBM DB2 database and want to interface with it via Visual
Studio .NET 2005.  Will we need to write a lot of custom code, or are
there builtin tools that can help us with this?

I am not sure how much time do you have at your disposal but take a look at:

And you would be in a good position to know what all do you require.
