I couldn't find a specific mention of Jon Stewart's salary, but previous hosts have received only union scale (plus a gift bag): "Chris Rock will receive only union scale for hosting the 77th Academy Awards telecast, syndicated columnist Liz Smith reported today (Tuesday), noting that all the other Oscar hosts before him were likewise paid only scale. 'It's mostly for the exposure and the honor of it,' Smith observed. She also noted that Rock and the presenters do receive a lavish 'gift bag' for their services. This year's is worth an estimated $30,000, she said." http://www.imdb.com/news/sb/2005-02-22#tv5 |

Sounds like JS got a big raise over CR: Don?t fret, there are some rules to these gift bags. The individual items cannot be valued below $500. The Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that the gift bags have an estimated value of $100,000. http://us.gizmodo.com/gadgets/cellphones/oscar-swag-bag-2006-158452.php |
