Hi man2277 -
Thanks for trying Good Answers. I hope I can be of help.
Since there are a myriad of services that a day spa can offer, I know
you will want to decide about these before you can determine equipment
needs and costs.
A great place to start finding out what you need to know about spa
treatments and equuipment, if not costs, is the SpaTrade website:
SpaTrade
http://www.spatrade.com/home/
This is an industry website and has a section called "Ask the
Experts."
If you type in "treatments" into their search box, you will get the
latest questions and answers about treatments being offered around the
country. Botox seems to be the most popular at the moment.
In the "Ask the Experts" archive I found a suggestion about opening a
spa from Deborah Smith, an expert on spa management and operations,
among other areas. Ms. Smith recommended subscribing to "Spa
Managment" magazine as well as "Day Spa Magazine."
Each of the journals recommended by Ms. Smith has a website:
Spa Management
http://www.spamanagement.com/ and
Day Spa Magazine
http://www.dayspamagazine.com/
The Spa Managment Website displays no online articles, but gives the
email addresses (under the link "Products and Services") of equipment
manufacturers to whom you can email for prices when you get to that
point.
The Day Spa Magaine website displays a few online articles from the
past issues of the magazine (see "So you want to open a day spa").
There is also a long list of equipment & consulting advertisers and
their email addresses (see "Marketplace").
[NOTE: The online articles are in Portable Document Format (pdf).
They can be read with the Adobe Acrobat reader which can be downloaded
free from:
http://download.com.com/3120-20-0.html?qt=adobe+acrobat&tg=dl-2001&search=+Go%21+
The above is the download for Windows. If you use another platform,
use the scroll down box on the upper right of the page (currently
reading "windows".]
I do hope the websites help you decide about the services of your
spa and hence the cost and equipment needed to operate one.
Good luck to you.
