Please find: total sales of publicly traded US corporations (not the

in the years 1900, 1910, 1920, 1930, etc., to 2000, plus 2005.

Peter,

Are you aware of a source of data that would allow these sorts of
figures to be calculated?

I'm pretty familiar with business data sources, but I can't think of
any that would do the trick for this particular question.

Let me know what you think.

Peter and Pafalafa --

The fee-based service that has an authoritative database to answer
your question is the CRSP database:
University of Chicago
Center for Research in Security Prices (CRSP)
http://gsbwww.uchicago.edu/research/crsp/products/index.html

Most graduate business schools have access to the database. However,
there are more than a few problems with coverage as far back as you're
seeking:
* it covers the NYSE (only) to 1925
* AMEX and NASDAQ coverage starts decades later

Best regards,
