Hi,
The news is not great for online grocery shopping in your area, as
there are no local supermarkets that cater to online shopping, with
delivery, for perishables. Unfortunately, the US market does not seem
to have taken to online grocery shopping with the same vigor that
other countries have, and, as such, many services have been limited to
very specific areas, or cut out altogether. However, there are two
companies that will deliver anywhere in the United States and both
include your area. These are: Net Grocer ( http://www.netgrocer.com )
and My PC Grocer ( http://www.mypcgrocer.com )
Peapod used to cover your area, but have now directed it's customer
base to Net Grocer. This company would seem to be your best choice,
having a wider variety and delivery via FEDEX to ensure everything
arrives in good order.
My PC Grocer delivers via UPS Ground, but this would not be suitable
for you, as it takes three days to deliver to your area. They do
include an air option, but this appears to be extremely expensive.
Piggly Wiggly do, or did, have some stores that offered online
shopping, but have ceased the service in your area.
Another service that might be worth looking at is the Grocery Shopping
Network ( http://www.groceryshopping.net/ ). Whilst they don't, at
this point, have any stores that are directly in your location, there
are a couple that are close and you can nominate stores in your area
which they will then contact to see if they wish to participate.
An alternative to think about is personally hiring someone to shop for
you. Several supermarkets offer printable shopping lists, which you
could print out and give to someone. This would allow them to do your
shopping and deliver it to you, at an agreed price.
With regard to online grocery shopping generally, a worthwhile article
can be found at http://www.pcworld.com/resource/printable/article/0,aid,37031,00.asp
Just to recap quickly, online grocery shopping in your area is not
well covered, however the most viable option for you appears to be Net
Grocer, which you will find at http://www.netgrocer.com
I trust this answers your question, but don't hesitate to ask if you
require clarification.
