I recently acquired a Brother IntelliFax 770 via eBay. I need to be
able to send faxes, but it doesn't appear to work. Here are the steps
I've tried explicitly - the payment goes to whomever can help me get
my faxes to send!
Picking up the telephone, I can call a number just fine, however, when
I try to send a fax by placing a piece of paper in the send tray and
dialing the number and hitting send, it sits there quietly saying
"SEND" and waits about 10 seconds and the says: "NO RESPONSE/BUSY."
I downloaded the manual from Brother's Web site and saw that I could
manually dial a number by hitting the HOOK button, typing in the
number, and then hitting Send when I heard the fax noise. I did this,
calling the #, waiting until I started to hear the high squeal pitch
of the fax, and then hit send. It printed "SEND" on the LCD, sat
there for 10 seconds, then disconnected the line saying: "NO
RESPONSE/BUSY."
I tried using the Quick Fax mode, where it scans in a document first
and then calls the number you specified. Doing this is scanned in the
document, then called the number audibly. I heard the fax noises.
After about 10 seconds it disconnected and said: NO RESPONSE/BUSY."
If I call the fax # I have been using directly, I hear the fax noises.
I personally know many other people who have called the fax # I am
trying and have had it work flawlessly.
One issue, although I am skeptical about this, is that my line has
ADSL coming in. I have the noise reduction thingie, or whatever it is
called, from the phone line to the fax machine... don't know if this
is it. I guess the only way to thoroughly test this would be to carry
the machine to a phone jack in someone else's home and test it out
there.
If ANYONE can provide any help I'd be forever in your debt! I'm
hoping I'm not SOL here. |
