fred1bear...

It depends, but if your Shure mic comes with a standard phone plug,
you'll need to buy a converter to terminate it into a mini-phone
plug. At least that's the standard input for most soundcard mic
inputs. The soundcard input is also usually mono, so if the Shure
is a stereo mic with a stereo phone plug out, you'll need to
convert it from stereo to mono, and then to a mini-phone plug.

That's off the top of my head, so whether I'm way off base, or
right on target, let me know...

Your Soundblaster Audigy II has a 1/4" stereo jack and your Shure SM57
microphone has a standard Male XLR plug. You will need a converter.
