Hello,

I am aware that several consumer electronics companies such as Apple,
Microsoft, etc. outsource their production to manufacturing facilities
usually in Asia. I also understand that large distributors such as
Ingram Micro distribute the products to retailers for Apple,
Microsoft, etc..

My question is two-fold:

Can you explain the supply chain for Apple, Microsoft on products such
as the Ipod and Xbox? (ie. does Igram buy from Apple or the
manufacturer directly?)

Secondly, can an authrorized distributor order a production run of say
10K units direct from the factory? I know that if you asked Apple or
Microsoft directly about it, they will say its impossible. However, I
know first-hand that there are wholesalers that can source these
products in large quantities very cheaply. How do they do it? Do
they buy directly from the factory? If so, they would need to import
them into the U.S. and for that Apple would need to provide paperwork
for US Customs. How are these wholesalers obtaining product?
