we need a better way to make solar panels...what is it?

While there are some improvements in the pipeline (quantum dots .., etc)
there are fundamental limitations on how much energy we can get from
'surface solar'. 
So question is: will you accept negative answer (explaining the limits
on what can be achieved)?

Gimme a jillion dollars and I'll tell you.

What type of solar panels?  Thermal energy or electric producing?

Fixed on a roof or mobile on a boat/spacecraft?

How much of a load? Is the load flexible (like filling a water tank
sometime this week? Is the load fixed Lighting the inside of a tunnel?

Does your collector concentrate the sunlight? Does it track the
apparent motion of the sun?
