2. what is the new configuration? which motherboard and hard drive?

If your computer apears to have power but nothing ever comes up on the
screen, you may have blew a circuit or a breaker on the mother board
with static from your hands. Did you touch the motherboard when
installing it?

I had a very similar problem a few weeks back and what it actually was
was that the processor was not correctly installed , it was half out ,
and some of the pins had actually broken off.
I would start there and then work your way around your motherboard and
you will find the problem !!!

yes i agree with chopnut, that most of the time it isn't the monitor's
problem. It could be that your motherboard was a broken one when it
was shipped. Did you notice any static electricity when you touched
it? Any small amount of electricity could have killed the mobo (thats
the geek term for motherboard ;) Also try your hard drive cable is
neat and fastened on correctly, as well as any connections. If you
still aren't having luck, try the motherboard at a friends, or have a
friend bring over a monitor that works. you can dertermine what
peoblem you have that way. Well good luck.

Has your motherboard got switches relating to your clock speed? and is
it a modern motherboard? some motherboards have an "auto-detect"
feature and even if you set the switches to the correct settings it
will noy boot. Try turning all the switches off and turning it on.
