Dear tank1204, When the island of Guanahani was sighted by a sailor of the "Pinta" in the early morning hours of Friday, 12 October 1492, Christoph Columbus was aboard his flagship, the "Santa Maria". He recorded this fact in his log book. At that time, the "Santa Maria" had a crew of 39 man (Columbus himself not included) according to the research of Alice Bache Gould. The total crew of Columbus' three ships was 87 men.
