Howdy mangomania-ga,

Considering that David Patrick Kelly, the actor that depicted Luther in the
1979 movie, "The Warriors," grew up in Michigan, any perceived German accent
would have to been affected by the actor. The following is from the Internet
Movie Database (IMDb) entry for David Patrick Kelly.
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0446314/bio

"Graduated from Bishop Gallagher High School in Harper Woods, Michigan ..."

If the above will do as an answer for you, please tell me and I will post it
as such. Thanks!

Salut Denco
Thanks for your research. But that's not exactly what I am looking
for. I just need to know, if "Luther", the character in the movie, has
a german accent. Don't matter if it's affected by the actor or not.
I uploaded two dialogues from the movie on which you can hear "Luther"
talking. Check it out:

www.walktall.ch/warriors/warriors_2.mp3
Hope this helps you!
Thanks!

Much thanks for accepting this as the answer to your question, mangomania-ga.

I have seen "The Warriors" an embarrassing number of times and I think David
Patrick Kelly (the actor playing "Luther" in the movie) is trying to add a
bit of "street" flavor to his performance with dropping the "g" off the end
of words ("takin'") and attempts to add some edge to his character with his
style of enunciation, but there is no German accent that I can detect.

If you need any clarification, please feel free to ask.

Search strategy: Personal experience of watching the movie many (many) times.

I also listened to the clips provided (thanks!) as well.

Thanks denco-ga! More than I asked. Special thanks for the extra
details about Luther's enunciation!

I've seen "The Warriors" several times. I listened to the audio clips
linked above. I don't think Luther has a German accent.

Nope, not there. I have seen "The Warriors" an embarrassing number of times
(Ask me about how "The Warriors," "Streets of Fire," and "The Last Dragon"
are part of a new genre of films) and I think David Patrick Kelly is trying
to add a bit of "street" flavor to his performance with dropping the "g" off
the end of words ("takin'") and attempts (quite well) to add some edge to his
character with his style of enunciation (See Eric Roberts, Christopher Walken,
and Crispin Glover) but no German accent that I can detect.
