Hello again newhorizons123,

I did extensive online research for the number of stained glass
hobbyists in the United States and unfortunately I was not able to
locate any useful data.

I finally decided to write to stained glass trade associations and
publishing houses and I asked for some estimates. While there are no
exact numbers available, I hope you will find my findings useful.


I sent an email to Stained Glass News

?Stained Glass News is a full-color newspaper which has been dedicated
to informing, entertaining and inspiring stained glass hobbyists for
the past 18 years.?

Scott from Stained Glass News kindly replied to my email and gave me
an educated guess based on his experience. No hard numbers are

500,000 stained glass hobbyists, approximately 65% as many as there
were 5 years ago.


Katei Gross, Executive Administrator of the Stained Glass Association
of America   ( )   also replied to my

She said that the exact number of stained glass hobbyists is
impossible to say because they do not have to be licensed or have any
type of accreditation.

The only true figure she could give me is based on the Federal SIC
code for stained glass artisans which is about 4300.



If I receive additional estimates from other sources I will post the figures here.

information. Unfortunately, it seems that there is not much data to be
