Hi dan...thanks for asking for me...
Slow startup again - or still? I thought we had resolved that when
you installed the software I recommended on the other question I
answered for you.
Speaking of which, one of the programs I recommended does a much
better job of listing and identifying your startup programs than
msconfig. That would be WinPatrol, which you can activate by
double-clicking on Scotty the Terrier in your System Tray.
By default, it should open to the Startup Programs tab, where the
Title column will tell you the name of the program, in addition to
the name of the startup executable file. Also, when you select a
program entry, the status bar at the bottom will tell you where
the startup is initiated from, whether the registry path or from
Windows Startup. You can also right-click a highlighted entry and
learn more about that program by selecting 'Info' from the menu.
Unfortunately, there is no simple way to copy all the entries so
you can paste them here for my scrutiny, either from msconfig or
from WinPatrol.
One program which will include a list of all Startup items in a
logfile is HijackThis, which I also mentioned in my previous
answer:
---
- HijackThis (HJT)
HijackThis is a legendary program which is of immense
value if you've already been infected, or think you
might have been.
"HijackThis examines certain key areas of the Registry
and Hard Drive and lists their contents. These are areas
which are used by both legitimate programmers and hijackers."
http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/
HJT creates a log of what it finds which can then be
posted for analysis by experts such as those found here
on Google Answers, or in a forum dedicated to assisting
those who are infected, such as 'TomCoyote Forums',
'Geeks to Go Forums' and 'SpywareInfo Forums'.
Experts can tell you precisely what entries to check for
removal by HJT.
One of the latest enhancements to this program is the
addition of online HJT log analyzers, which can give
you a leg up in analyzing them yourself:
IamNotaGeek.com log parser:

HJT has other very useful features, including one which
marks a file for deletion on reboot. This is very useful
when Windows prevents you from deleting a file because
it's currently in use, which happens a lot with viruses.
---
So you could download, install and run HJT immediately
after a reboot, save a log, and copy and paste the
results from the 04 (Startup) section here. That would
enable me to go through your startup entries with a fine
tooth comb. You could actually paste the whole log here,
and I could look it over for possible viruses, though,
if you've been running the protection programs that I
recommended, that shouldn't be an issue. I'm sure I made
it clear that it's not enough to just install these
programs which protect against spyware and adware. You
have to update and run them on a regular basis, just as
with an antivirus program.
We should also consider other possibile causes for slow
startup, many of which are discussed or linked to from
this page from Microsoft:

And here's a post from the TabletPCBuzz forum about resolving
slow startup in a tablet PC:
"I am a tech for a company and have had quite a few computers
come in with the same problem after SP2 was installed. Here
is the problem that I found it to be SP2 has a built in
firewall program. Some of the Norton products also have a
firewall program. Once you get the computer booted (after
45 minutes). Turn off your Windows Firewall from the Security
settings in the Control Panel. Then uninstall Norton completely.
When you finally get all that done. Reboot and your speed should
increase back to normal. I do not recommend reinstalling Norton
after I experienced this problem." [last post on the page]

So, hopefully you're not running Norton, or any other software
firewall, or the Windows XP firewall, in addition to your Linksys
router. That would be redundant, and could be slowing you down.
So let me know what operating system you're using, and give me
a little more detail about where in the bootup process the system
is slowing down, and for how long, in addition to everything else
I've asked of you, and lets see where that takes us.
