I am interested to get a RECENT (2003 or later) breakdown of LOCAL
advertising spend across various types of local media (e.g.,
newspaper, yellow pages, tv, radio, others), broken down the spend by
EACH ADVERTISER TYPE or SEGMENT.
In the case where there is some cooperative advertising money flowing
(see 2nd and 3rd types of advertisers below), I'd like to know the
amount of money flowing down from the national CMO, where it flows,
for what type of media spend, etc.
By Advertiser type, I mean (1) independent local business (such as a
"joe's plumbing) versus (2) branch business type (such as a local
branch of bank of america, where majority ownership/control is at the
national/regional office) versus (3) franchise type (where mostly
locally/independently owned/controlled, with some regional/national
ties in branding...such as a local cellular phone store that focuses
on selling Sprint equipment and service).
So an answer to this question would at a minimum include first, a
chart like the one below, and second, a breakdown of the cooperative
(coop) money flow shown in the last two columns of the chart (see
asterisks in chart and below).
CHART: 2004 Local Ad Spend by Media and Local Advertiser Type
MEDIA SPEND BY INDEP ADVERTISER SPEND BY BRANCH ADVERTISER SPEND ....
Local newspaper $X $Y* $Z**
* of the $Y, $A represents outlay by the branch and $B represents
cooperative ad dollars provided by the central/regional/national
office (where A+B substantially equal $Y
**of the $Z, $C represents outlay by the branch and $D represents
cooperative ad dollars provided by the central/regional/national
office (where C+D substantially equal $Z
NOTE: I would also like to know the source of all data, so that I know
how reputable/reliable it is. |
