I'm running Win XP home edition. I noticed all Tahoma fonts on my
system - displayed on a web page OR application - are italic! Only
fonts that are headings seem to be affected.
I'm asking for advice that will fix this problem w/o having to reinstall windows.
I've tried to reinstall it, but I probably didnt do it correctly.

Try this:
R-click on a blank space on your desktop, and select Properties.
Go to the Appearance tab. In the drop-down menu labelled Item,
select Icon. That should open up a Font dialog just underneath
the Item area. De-select the Italics symbol on the far right,
and click Apply. Open Windows Explorer to see the changes.
You can continue to customize the font to your satisfaction by
playing with that same dialogue.
That should resolve the problem. Let me know if it does, and
I'll post a formal answer to collect the fee.

Oh. I just noticed that you said only headings are affected.
In that case, select Active Title Bar and/or Inactive Title
Bar from the Item menu, and de-select the italics symbol in
the Font dialog for those.

Thanks for your response, but I tried what your reccomended, but not
avail. Let me clarify what I meant becuase I am afraid I was not
clear.
Head over to http://support.microsoft.com/gp/securityhome (this site
was chosen at random b/c it uses tahoma headings). For the display on
this computer, in both Firefox and IE, the following headings & text
are in italics:
-Security Help and Support for Home Users
-Latest News
-Recent Security Incidents and Microsoft Security Bulletins
-No-Charge Support
And there are many others.

Thanks for clarifying. Those would be browser font settings, which
can be adjusted in the browser preferences. However, I was unable
to duplicate the italics by making changes in IE, so I'm not sure
what to tell you, except that you might go into IE and go to Tools
-> Internet Options, and on the General tab, click on Accessibility
at the bottom, and make sure none of the options are checked.
Let me know...
