What is the average amount of time it takes an online shopper to buy
something online?  The clock woould start when the shopper clicks the
"checkout" button in his/her shopping cart.  The clock stops when the
shopper completes the purchase.

 I have not found any information regarding e-commerce performance
times which are strictly bound by the parameters you have suggested -
i.e. from the time the shopper hits the "checkout" button to the
moment the shopper completes the purchase.
 There is, however, a weekly index which records the average time it
takes for a shopper to log into an account, search for an item, add it
to the shopping cart, and proceed to check out. Data from selected
ecommerce retail sites from the ten largest U.S. metropolitan areas is
compiled in order to derive the performance numbers.
 Would information about this particular index be of interest as an
answer to your question? If so, I will be happy to proceed. Please let
