We recently purchased matching large capacity Maytag front loading washer /dryer from sears. Problem is that washer shakes the whole house. Technician from sears advises that nothing is wrong with washer. The problem stems from fact that these machines require concrete slab (not second floor) for stable operation. Sears may take back.Questions are: Is that only solution? Which brands of front loaders will not vibrate excessively if placed in second floor installation, preferably sold by sears. Alternatively, which are most efficient top loaders? |

There is another solution, if you can weigh down the washing machine it can vastly reduce the vibration, but if the weighing is not enough it can cause even loader noises and more vibration when it does start to shake. I would suggest a concrete slap to be placed and fitted in side of the washing machine at the base, if you are lucky there maybe a lip for the concrete to sit on. If you think that this will not be a suitable solution I would recommend that you purchase matching Miele washer/dryer if you can not get these from sears I would advise that you purchase Kenmore products they are far more robust and quieter than Maytag machines. I advise that under no circumstances that you purchase a whirlpool washer and dryer you would be lucky if they lasted 18 months. The most efficient top loaders are Kenmore?s they also seem to come up tops in all the consumer reviews. I hope this information will help you on your quest to stop the vibration of you washer and dryer. Derek |
