I'm looking for a few people to help send emails about a site I
created (satprepplan.com). I need help asking teachers in high schools
to beta test my site but don't have the time to find and send hundreds
of emails.(not spam, personalized email) I would like to hire online consultants
to help me but don't know where to look for inexpensive workers that
can write in English and have basic email and web skills. I've tried
guru.com etc but those sites are geared more towards professionals, an
example of the type of person I'm looking could be a high school
students in India.

Although you may not consider this to be spam, the recipients may see
things differently. Unsolicited emails promoting a website are likely
to be viewed as spam, even if the emails come from high school
students in India.

Hi,
I can see your point, however I don't consider it spam for a few reasons:
1) I'm not selling anything, I'm trying to get teachers and students
to beta test the website and give me feedback.
2) SAT prep, especially free, is something that students and educators really want.
3) It's not really unsolicited since I'm not soliciting anything and
I'm using publicly posted email addresses.

If you have any idea as to a better way to get a large number of
students to give me feedback on the content I currently have I would
be very interested. Cheers.

"Unsolicited" means somebody did not ask you to send them mail This
eqauls spam. Spam is any mail sent without the recipient requesting
it.

'unsolicited' != spam. I get plenty of email from folks I dont know
about things I'm interested in, that's why I post my email address
online. Spam = indiscriminate commercial auto generated email where
there is no compelling reason to believe the party you're sending mail
to is interested.

I've have sent out plenty of mail asking for feedback about my website
(satprepplan.com) and not once has any of the guidance counselors,
educators, or students accused such communication of being spam. If
all email communication was to parties that had pre-asked for
communication, email would be almost useless, this is why the vast
majority of people dont use white lists with email.

I want to clarify this issue, because I think it is important and
because I'm anti spam and certainly dont want to be seen as someone
who would 'spam'. Here is the Spamhaus Project definition of spam:

http://www.spamhaus.org/definition.html

"
The word "Spam" as applied to Email means Unsolicited Bulk Email ("UBE").

Unsolicited means that the Recipient has not granted verifiable
permission for the message to be sent. Bulk means that the message is
sent as part of a larger collection of messages, all having
substantively identical content.

A message is Spam only if it is both Unsolicited and Bulk.
- Unsolicited Email is normal email
(examples: first contact enquiries, job enquiries, sales enquiries)

- Bulk Email is normal email
(examples: subscriber newsletters, customer communications, discussion lists)

	Technical Definition of Spam

An electronic message is "spam" IF:

(1) the recipient's personal identity and context are irrelevant
because the message is equally applicable to many other potential
recipients;

AND

(2) the recipient has not verifiably granted deliberate, explicit,
and still-revocable permission for it to be sent."

The type of contact I'm promoting is not spam because:

"A message is Spam only if it is both Unsolicited and Bulk."

These messages are not bulk, they are specifically sent and tailored
to each individual educator that would be interested in
satpprepplan.com

" An electronic message is "spam" IF:

(1) the recipient's personal identity and context are irrelevant
because the message is equally applicable to many other potential
recipients;"

In my case the recipient personal identity and context are vitally
important to this message and are only applicable to a very select
group and tailored to each individual. (which is why I need help
finding these people and writing messages, as I am being very
selective and it is time consuming.) I hope this clears things up.
