Question ID: 708244
I have recently moved into a house with a heating problem. We are
redesigning the heating for several rooms, and the heating company
wants to know how much hotter or colder various rooms are over time.

I'd like to set up 4 or 5 wireless thermometers in different rooms,
and somehow capture a history of temperatures for each room over
several days, to show how each room heats differently.

I thought I might be able to use some of the many "weather monitors"
that seem to be available, but I haven't found a solution that seems
to do what I want.

Can someone suggest if there are good products/components that would
work well to record the temperature of multipel rooms wirelessly? I
can write some simple software if need be.

Seems like a customer oriented heating company would have some equipment.

Hi,
I work in the Building Services Industry. The type of company you are
looking for is one that specialises in BMS (Building Management
Systems) or BEMS (Building Energy Management Systems). I am answering
this question from the UK however I believe the following companies
may be worth invstigating:

Honeywell
Trend
Siemens

These systems can be used for both monitoring and control however I
believe you are only interested in the monitoring aspect. Wireless
sensors are now becoming very popular. Most BMS systems will connect
to a standard PC and software can be provided by the company. I am
more used to larger commercial systems however I am aware of a number
of 'low energy' housing projects here in the UK that are implementing
such systems.

Leading on from you existing question, perhaps if you gave more
information on your current heating problem then perhaps you could
avoid dealing with/paying the heating company altogether and get and
answer from Google?

There are a huge variety of dataloggers on the market. It depends what
you mean by Inexpensive. Radio Spares do a nice range which link to a
PC. We also use a range of stand alone products called Tinytalk. The
are the size of a 35mm film canister. You connect to PC and activate.
Then you diconnect and take to room in question. When you have
completed logging just connect back to PC and down load data for
analysis. You can change frequency etc.
