Watched a short story about a man who buys a doll and brings it home.
The doll comes to life and tries to kill man many times but does not
succeed. Man throws doll in oven to try to kill it but when he opens
oven door to check on the doll, the vapors hit his face and his face
matches the doll's face. Any idea where this episode originated? I
am thinking its a "Twilight Zone" episode but can't seem to locate it.

Dear colombiano13148-ga

Thank you for allowing me to answer your interesting question. The
Twilight Zone is close, but that's not it. The movie you remember was
actually part of the Trilogy of Terror (1975) in which a girlfriend
buys her boyfriend an African Zuni fetish doll and the doll comes to
life and terrorizes them. A very creepy short story indeed.

TRILOGY OF TERROR
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0073820/plotsummary

?Amelia whines about it being her boyfriend's birthday, tells her
mother about the little Zuni fetish doll she bought for him, and the
conversation ends in an impasse that insures Amelia feels guilty
enough to postpone her date. Unfortunately for Amelia, a necklace
hanging around the doll's neck--which supposedly keeps the spirit
within safely bottled up--falls off when she puts the fetish down on
the coffee table. Sure enough, the little doll comes to life and
systematically stalks Amelia throughout the apartment. Screaming in
terror for her life and becoming increasingly bloodied in the
confrontations with the doll, Amelia thinks throwing the fetish in the
oven will finally do the little monster in. The final scene of
"Amelia" is definitely one of the creepiest shots in horror history,
and it stays with you. That smile alone makes the DVD worth watching.?

The movie has since been reworked in the form of a sequel, first
broadcast on the USA Cable channel during on evening of October 30,
1996:

Sorry. You can see from the time stamp that it is probably too early
in the morning to be trying to type with one hand and drink coffee
with the other. If it weren't for my typo, my post would have read:
"thank YOU for the generous tip!"

Thorough response with additional information not requested in
question. Very well researched and presented. Feel bad that only
paid minimum for this query. >100% tip rate is warranted in this
case. Thanks.

Thanks for the detailed thorough answer to my question. My memory was
definitely shabby after all these years and your answer brought back
more about the skit. Thanks to your research, I will get the trilogy
and watch it again and see if it has the same effect it did on me way
back then.
Thanks once again. I appreciate the extra information provided about the skit.

Thanks again for all your effort on this question. Can you help me on
the other question I posted. It is labeled "Childhood Scary Movie".
I saw it at a CYO function sometime in the middle to late 70's. Any
help with that one is greatly appreciated.
